Indian High Commissioner calls on the President

High Commissioner to the Maldives Rajeev Shahare has paid a courtesy call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. The meeting was held this morning at the President’s Office.

At the meeting, High Commissioner Shahare presented to President Yameen, a letter from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The Indian High commissioner congratulated President Yameen on his assumption of office. Discussions were held on the long existing bilateral relations between the Maldives and India, and ways to further strengthen the relations. High Commissioner Shahare also assured the President of India’s continued cooperation to the Maldives.

Speaking at the meeting, the President expressed his gratitude to the Indian government for the assistance they have continued to provide to the Maldives.
