High Commissioner's message to people of Maldives on the eve of Independence Day and Eid-UL-Fitr
On behalf of the people and the leadership of India and own behalf, it is my honour and pleasure to extend to the people and the leadership of the Republic of Maldives, very warm greetings and felicitations on the occasion of the Independence Day. Maldives has commenced its 50th year of independence, a momentous milestone in the timeline of the country as also in terms of the remarkable progress and development achieved in the past five decades.
India and Maldives enjoy a special and close relationship based on robust people to people contacts since millennia and mutual trust and cooperation. Our deep and time-tested ties too shall attain a significant landmark in November this year when the diplomatic relations will enter the golden jubilee year. I am confident that this relationship will continue to expand, diversify and strengthen in the coming years.
May I also take this opportunity to wish Eid Mubarak to the people of Maldives and the Indian community in the country. May the blessed festival of Eid bring with it peace, tranquility, prosperity and happy tidings to all.
