Operation Neer : Indian assistance to Maldives during Male Water Crisis

Operation Neer: Indian assistance to Maldives during Male Water Crisis India provided swift assistance to Maldives on its request during the Male Water crisis, which erupted due to a fire in the complex of Male Water and Sewerage Company on December 4, 2014. Indian aircrafts flew multiple sorties (the first aircraft arrived in Male within 12 hours of the request from Government of Maldives) delivering 375 tonnes of drinking water to the people in Male. Two Indian Ships INS Deepak and INS Shukanya also arrived in Male and delivered around 2000 tonnes of water alleviating the pressure faced by the Maldivians. India’s timely assistance was deeply appreciated by the leadership and people of Maldives.
